Washington, D.C. (March 3,2010) — Wheat Systems Integration, LLC donated $2,500 in funds as well as $82,000 worth of technology and services to Project Meridian Foundation at the annual Board of Directors meeting on Feb. 27, 2010 at the Army Navy Club in Washington, D.C. The donations were made to support Project Meridian Foundation’s ongoing effort to end human and sex trafficking in Virginia and around the world.

“1 million American children in the United States between the ages of 11-17 have been victimized and sex trafficked across city, county, and state lines … Along with drugs and weapons, human trafficking is one of the three biggest funding sources of terrorism worldwide,” says Nathan Wilson, founder and President of Project Meridian Foundation. It is popular belief that sex trafficking occurs only in foreign countries, but millions of U.S. children are abducted in public places in broad daylight, often coerced with lies about potential acting and modeling careers. They may suffer beatings, forced abortions, gang rapes, prostitution, sexually transmitted diseases, and indentured servitude.
Attendees included founder Wilson, former U.S. Secretary of State the Honorable Lawrence S. Eagleburger, former Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Craig W. Duehring COL (retired), former Minister of the Interior of Latvia Eriks Jekabsons, Judge Advocate/Vice President & Senior Counsel to the U.S. Army’s Center for Law and Military Operations Jeffery Spears, Program Development Consultant of the Virginia Department of Social Services Jeffrey S. Williams, former Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction Brad Little, Chief Technology Officer of Wheat Systems Integration Warren Michael Wheat, and others.
“We at Wheat Systems wanted to do all that we can for the sake of the children of Virginia,” said Wheat, who delivered the funds by check at the board meeting, also a board member himself. Wheat uses his skill set as a technology solutions architect to advise the Board on using the latest technology to fulfill its mission to work with international, federal, state, and local law enforcement.
Project Meridian Foundation works to assist International, Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies to identify and recover victims of Human Trafficking and rehabilitate and reintegrate those who have been kidnapped and exploited. They also educate vulnerable youth, those between the ages of 11 and 17, and educate university students about this criminal enterprise. Currently, Project Meridian Foundation is preparing for the launch of Operation Safe House; an initiative to provide the victims of Human and Sex Trafficking with proper facilities for healthcare, education and vocational training opportunities so they can resume a normal life.
